The concept of the Ramble board for off-topic musing was introduced to us by Terry, the host of Spring.com where the community was located from late '96 to the end of March '97, and carried over when the site took the name the Republic of Pemberley in March '97, moving to an ISP in Boston, and then getting its own domain and server a few months later.
These days that rambling would be called blogging, but you are not allowed to 'blog' at the present day Ramble now. This graphic for the Ramble board was never used. I can't remember why - perhaps it was too jumbly next to some wallpaper in the background? Anyway, Ramble settled down to feature photographs of flowers taken by Joan Winsor, the board host, who was a keen gardener.
