Looking forward to Treme
David Simon’s new venture Treme premieres soon in the US. It looks full of promise, though I guess it will take ages to get here. My friend Amy put me onto The Wire some years ago, (my son and I still sometimes smilingly say ‘and then I gotta dry that shit up’). I’m truly hooked, but taking it slow, watching week by week on SBS, where we are in the middle of the third season; so lots of good stuff to go yet.

While you’re waiting for “Treme” to get to Australia (or on to DVD), there’s a beautiful documentary out about this incredible New Orleans neighborhood, Faubourg Treme: The Untold Story of Black New Orleans. Filled with amazing characters, stories and music, the documentary will give you a history and understanding of the Treme that will certainly enrich the experience of Simon’s series.
Looks good. I’m also watching The Wire (although it’s on ABC, not SBS). I like the way each season interconnects, and watching the characters over time. Last night’s episode was really good – didn’t see the ending coming!
