It&#8217;s quite amazing: about 2 metres across, based on drawings by <a title=\"Haeckel\" href=\"http:\/\/spiritsdancing.com\/sdblog\/2004\/06\/23\/some-thoughts-on-ernst-haeckel-and-peter-careys-oscar-and-lucinda\/\">Ernst Haeckel<\/a>, and intricately made of amber-coloured polyurethane rubber:<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Photo Sharing\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/37996586683@N01\/1518069067\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2254\/1518069067_cebe9c7de3.jpg\" alt=\"Discomedusae\" width=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Photo Sharing\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/37996586683@N01\/1518068115\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm1.static.flickr.com\/232\/1518068115_88acf2aff9.jpg\" alt=\"Discomedusae\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To me it had a distinct feeling of decadence about it &#8211; intriguing, but I&#8217;m sure I would prefer the translucence of another of his jellyfish, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.timothyhorn.net\/pages.php?content=gallery.php&amp;navGallID=82\"><em>Medusa<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I had a few days in Sydney last week, and made a point of visiting the National Maritime Museum, not to clamber on old ships or warships like everyone else, but to see Timothy Horn&#8216;s jellyfish chandelier sculpture, Discomedusae (in the Jellyfish &#8211; nature inspires art exhibit).
