The island buildings consist of a Romanesque Basillica and a big Benedictine monastry, and there&#8217;s<span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">\u00a0a circular path dotted with small sign posts which have homilies or sayings on them. It was really busy, and the church, which is opulent and crammed with artwork, sculptures and a gruesome saint on show in a sacophagus, gave me the creeps.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The pathway on the island&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/spiritsdancing.com\/travels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/IMG_6320.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-465\" alt=\"IMG_6320\" src=\"http:\/\/spiritsdancing.com\/travels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/IMG_6320-768x1024.jpg\" width=\"625\" height=\"833\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8230; and a nice circular window.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/spiritsdancing.com\/travels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/IMG_6321.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-466\" alt=\"IMG_6321\" src=\"http:\/\/spiritsdancing.com\/travels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/IMG_6321-768x1024.jpg\" width=\"625\" height=\"833\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A ceramic tile that was a cut above the other homilies,\u00a0outside a door.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/spiritsdancing.com\/travels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/IMG_6335.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-460\" alt=\"IMG_6335\" src=\"http:\/\/spiritsdancing.com\/travels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/IMG_6335-935x1024.jpg\" width=\"625\" height=\"684\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Onshore in\u00a0Orta San Giulio there are lovely old faded buildings and lots of gelati shops.
