{"id":88,"date":"2005-04-08T11:56:00","date_gmt":"2005-04-08T11:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiritsdancing.com\/sdblog\/?p=88"},"modified":"2015-07-26T17:25:39","modified_gmt":"2015-07-26T06:25:39","slug":"terrapin-theatre-company-the-garden-of-paradise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spiritsdancing.com\/sdblog\/2005\/04\/08\/terrapin-theatre-company-the-garden-of-paradise\/","title":{"rendered":"Terrapin Theatre Company: The Garden of Paradise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tendaysontheisland.org\/\">Ten Days on the Island Festival<\/a> in Tasmania, which started on April 1st, is drawing to a close. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.terrapin.org.au\/\">Terrapin Theatre Company<\/a>, which is one of Australia&#8217;s oldest puppetry companies, presented a stage adaptation of <a href=\"http:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20050804021555\/http:\/\/www.terrapin.org.au:80\/stage.html\">The Garden of Paradise<\/a>, a little known tale by Hans Christian Andersen. It was commissioned by the festival to mark the bicentennial of the<br \/>\nbirth of Hans Christian Andersen, and included dancers from TasDance, choreographed by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.australiadancing.org\/subjects\/47.html\">Graeme Murphy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The bicentennial is being celebrated all over the world this year, and Terrapin has been invited to take their production to Denmark in August.<\/p>\n<p>In January there was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theage.com.au\/news\/Arts\/Island-serves-it-up\/2005\/01\/03\/1104601282775.html\">a preview in The Age<\/a>, and a few days ago The Australian has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theaustralian.news.com.au\/common\/story_page\/0,5744,12753619%255E16947,00.html\">a short review<\/a> within a general article on the festival. <a href=\"http:\/\/gentlecuriosity.blogspot.com\/2005\/04\/garden-of-paradise.html\">Gentle Curiosity<\/a> has a more personal and detailed response.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Ten Days on the Island Festival in Tasmania, which started on April 1st, is drawing to a close.
