Her link to <a href=\"http:\/\/meggiecat.blogspot.com\/2005\/04\/japanese-clipart.html\">Japanese Free Clip Art<\/a> the other day provided this lovely swallowtail butterfly image, for instance.<\/p>\n<p>The designs reminded me of a book called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/redirect?tag=spiritsdancin-20&amp;creative=9325&amp;camp=1789&amp;link_code=ur2&amp;path=tg\/detail\/-\/4770026897\/ref=olp_product_details?v=glance\">&#8216;Snow, Wave, Pine:Traditional patterns in Japanese Design&#8217;<\/a> by Motoji Niwa and Sadao Hibi, which I sometimes page through in the bookshop. Its a beautiful collection of photographs of classic decorative patterns on a wide variety of objects (for example robes, laquerware, swords and ceramics), and many drawings of family crests and stylized motifs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Meggiecat is a constant source of interesting art-craft-image-related notes.
