Experience: 2004

The Lost Thing (2004)
Jigsaw Theatre Company, ACT
Based on the book by Shaun Tan, The Lost Thing premiered at the National Gallery of Australia in October, as the main event of their Children's Festival. Imogen Keen and I were the makers of the puppets and some set elements, which were designed by Richard Jeziorny. Among the main puppets we made were several versions of the Lost Thing itself (the main one being 2.5 metres tall) and the boys, the boy's couch-potato parents, a cat, a dog, tentacles, a miniature tram, and numerous other whimsical lost things.
'The Lost Thing' was featured at the Sydney Festival in January 2005, and returns to Canberra for more shows at the Canberra Theatre Centre in March.

Arborio Rice Grain (2004)

Jigsaw Theatre Company, ACT
Designer and maker of a giant grain of arborio rice and a small cooking pot for for Jigsaw's schools' program production Arborio. The play was created to mark the International Year of Rice (2004). Arborio is a comedy in the vein of Waiting for Godot and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, with an exuberant twist: the added bonus of live music. The grain is 2 metres long, and designed to be able to be manouvered and climbed upon. Jigsaw won a theatre award for 'the excellence, impact and theatrical creativity of Arborio' in the 2004 Canberra Critics Circle Awards, and the play will be at the Sydney Opera House in September 2005.
